Today, I celebrated the military personnel that lost their lives in the U.S. by baking some chocolate chip cookies, concocting my witch mask/Shrek mask/whatever you want to call it, and grilling some finger-licking-lemon-garlic chicken. This post is dedicated to the beginning of the day, when I made some chewy, chocolatey cookies.

As you probably know, many recipes call for room-temperature eggs. As you also know, if you have been keeping up with the blog, we got a clutch of chicks. My sister and I were placing one chick in each robe pocket to keep them nice and warm. Archie, my sister’s dog (shown last or on the right), caught on to this big time. He wanted more than anything to get a taste of that chick…just a taste.

As for the room-temperature eggs, I used the same warming tactic. Notably, Archie is also impassioned by raw eggs because he got a taste once and has not since forgotten. So when he got a whiff of the bulge in my pocket, he was extremely curious and incensed. Could it be a delicious chick? Or could it be a mouth-watering egg? To say the least, the anticipation of knowing what lay in the depths of my robe pocket was absolutely killing him. At last, once the egg was properly warmed, Archie was satisfied to find out that it was indeed an egg, only to be very exasperated seeing it going into a bowl for a recipe meant, yet again, for human consumption.
Recipe and Final Product

Hope you enjoyed the blog! I will be posting soon with part 2 of Memorial Day; I have a lot of material for the day that I don’t want to cram into one post. Tchau!

Omelet Ingredients: Diced Tomatoes, Diced Onions, Chopped Up Mushrooms, and Grated Cheese.
In the process of making omelets. A strenuous process…you have to make sure that pan is hot, but not too hot. Also don’t get distracted and leave the omelet on the pan too long! One self-recommendation for next time is to pre-cook the mushrooms and onions so that they aren’t too hard in the omelet.
Cline loling at something that we were talking about, and Favi, holding his head, obviously dumbfounded at something Mom said.
Nat looking increduously at Mom. By the way, mom absolutely refused to be included in this blog, so I will have to crop her out of all photos.
Archie (Jules’ dog) resting his head on the table, wondering what the hell is going on!
